We are delighted to announce that the winners of the Revision Cadet Challenge 16/17 are, once again, Tiverton Detachment, Devon ACF!
The Detachment of some 30 cadets have been declared the winning Detachment for the 2016-17 season. Their fundraising efforts have been phenomenal, some of which included a ‘Climbathon’ challenge, involving a 3km speed march with a 20kg pack, a 5km log run and a 200m indoor wall climb – all completed in under 90 minutes. Other activities included supermarket collections, a Christmas Raffle and an Open Evening which included displays and demonstrations by the Cadets.
Detachment Commander, Mark Sanders told us: “It never ceases to amaze me that no matter what fundraising ideas I put forward to the Cadets, they always rise to the challenge, going out and collecting sponsorships and tackling the challenges with real determination.”
Colonel Ashley Fulford OBE, the Devon ACF County Commandant said; “All in Devon ACF are immensely pleased and proud of Tiverton Detachment’s continued support and achievements in regard of fund raising for the ABF. This is truly an ACF Detachment engaging with the wider community and allowing cadets to become good citizens. Well done Staff Sergeant Sanders and team.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Robin Bacon, Chief of Staff, ABF The Soldiers’ Charity adds: “We are delighted with the commitment the Cadets have shown in raising money for the Charity. From collecting in Tiverton supermarkets, to Christmas raffles and cake sales, it all contributes to helping soldiers, veterans, and families in need. A particularly impressive feat is the Climbathon, in which five Cadets raised an extraordinary £500 between them. We want to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the Cadets involved, especially to those who have gone the extra mile in their fundraising efforts for the Charity.”
As well as retaining the very impressive piece of silverware the Cadets will also be treated to a unique military experience day in London. They will have a private tour of Wellington Barracks where they will watch the Guard Mounting Parade, visit the Guard’s Chapel, be treated to lunch at the Junior Ranks dining room, and much more!
This isn’t the last we’ll see of Tiverton Detachment as they are aiming for a hat trick next year and have already begun their fundraising for 2017-18!
