ABF The Soldiers’ Charity has recently awarded a grant of £18,000 to Step Together Volunteering for their work supporting Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans to engage with their communities through volunteering. The project, now in its fifth full year, is supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of more than 300 WIS service personnel each year across the UK.

Mike Silvey, Director of Step Together Volunteering, said “The Soldiers’ Charity’s support to this project is incredibly important, it enables us to continue to deliver a high quality service that is invaluable to our clients. Many of the volunteers are suffering not only from physical trauma but also from mental health problems such as severe anxiety, insomnia and lack of confidence, often struggling to leave the security of their houses.  An opportunity to volunteer for a cause which interests them provides a positive outlet for energy and an opportunity to increase social networks, as well as build new skills.  We are delighted with this support from The Soldiers’ Charity.”
