We are delighted to award a £40,300 grant to the National Gulf Veterans & Families Association (NGVFA), to fund its welfare and advocacy work.
Our charity supports several charities that promote the welfare of Army veterans and help them to avoid hardship or distress. The NGVFA supports serving soldiers and veterans of the Middle East and Afghanistan conflicts, and their dependents and carers.
The NGVFA’s welfare and advocacy service provides beneficiaries with continuity of care and tailored personal advice about mental health, financial benefits, war pensions and housing. The charity has noticed a 29% demand for its welfare and claims-related services in the past year, largely due to wider changes in the benefits system.
Maria Rusling, General Manager at NGVFA, said:
“The past few years have been very challenging. With the current cost of living crisis, the issues that veterans are facing over increased fuel and food costs makes it more important that they know we are just a telephone call away to help with whatever they need.
“This help would not be possible without grants from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which has supported us for many years, and we are truly grateful for its generous and continued support.”
Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, added:
“For many years now the NGVFA has been at the forefront of understanding the complex challenges affecting soldiers who served in the recent desert conflicts. Our charity is always proud to support its fantastic welfare work for these veterans.”
