We are delighted to award a £10,000 grant to Veterans Outdoors, towards the operating costs of its mental health support for military veterans.
Our charity promotes the mental health and wellbeing of soldiers and veterans as a matter of priority. Based in Devon, Veterans Outdoors works to improve the mental health of military veterans through mentoring and person-centred therapeutic outdoor activities, including guided walks, horticulture courses, animal husbandry, sports and team building days.
The charity works alongside other military charities and local partners across Devon and Cornwall. Our grant is expected to fund activities that will help around 80 Army veterans.
Jeremy Hibbard, CEO of Veterans Outdoors, said:
“Ongoing support from the Army Benevolent Fund helps us to maintain our unique service for Army Veterans, providing not just therapeutic activities but an innovative programme of emotional resilience courses which are proven to help beneficiaries move forward with their lives.”
Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:
“Veterans Outdoors does fantastic work to empower veterans and help them resettle into civilian life, develop their self confidence and build life skills. We were only too pleased to fund the charity’s work again this year.”
