We are delighted to award a £13,800 grant to Heritage Crafts to fund training for former soldiers.

 

The Army Benevolent Fund supports several charities that help former soldiers find new and rewarding careers following their Army service. Heritage Crafts, founded in 2009, is the national charity for promoting and protecting traditional heritage crafts and promoting public knowledge and research.

Our grant will cover the costs of training bursaries of up to £4,000 each for three Army veterans. We have previously funded bursaries for training in leatherworking and coach trimming, bookbinding, and copper smithing crafts.

Jay Blades MBE, Co-Chair of Heritage Crafts, said:

“If we are going to keep traditional craft skills alive, then linking up with former services personnel with a wealth of life experience behind them makes perfect sense. We are delighted to be working with the Army Benevolent Fund once more to provide these bursaries.”

Brigadier (Ret’d) Peter Monteith, Chief Operating Officer, Army Benevolent Fund, added:

“Supporting former soldiers in finding new and rewarding civilian careers is a priority area for our charity. Heritage Crafts helps people with diverse career backgrounds, including the Armed Forces, to train for a highly skilled and specialist industry. We were pleased to fund three more bursaries this year.
