On Monday 15th February at an indoor race track in Warrington, 10 teams took part in an endurance go karting race which saw thousands of pounds raised for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. The 12 hour race, organised by our North West office, included teams made up of serving soldiers, veterans, and civilian drivers.
The event was also held in memorial of Lance Corporal Andre Kirby, 1 Close Support Battalion, REME, who sadly lost his life to cancer in late 2015. A number of serving soldiers from the battalion also took part in the event, racing as a team in honour of LCpl Kirby.
A team from Kartforce, made up of injured ex-servicemen and women racing in specially adapted karts, came out as eventual victors after 12 tough hours of racing.
